01/02/2012: Work Experience Placement opportunities are now closed to new applicants.

The application period for 2012/13 Work experience placements are now open. The deadline for all applicants is the 1st of February 2012. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

We are looking for a maximum of two second year students to participate in our work experience scheme. The placement runs from September through May. The placement will be tailored for your course and our aim is to give you valuable work place skills, experience of a forensic and data recovery environment and give you an opportunity to practice what you've been learning so far.

The placement is suitable for students studying a digital forensics or security related course and have completed their second year. The successful candidates must be friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic. They must also have a good understanding of computer systems including data interpretation, file systems and forensic principles. Although these will form part of the training and experience.

I decided to take an Industrial placement year so I can gain some experience and knowledge to assist me with my final year. I have a strong interest in digital forensics and data recovery which I plan to build into a successful career. The placement is unpaid however we will pay reasonable travel costs. Unlike many placements where you are simply put in a warehouse or given filing to do. With Zibit Datalab you will be actively involved in data recovery and be able to work on test forensic cases.
