Our forensic examiners are experts in the recovery and analysis of evidence contained on mobile devices. This includes:
- Mobile Phones
- Nokia
- Samsung
- Sony Ericcson
- LG
- Smart Phones
- Android
- Windows Phone
- iPhone
- Blackberry
- Tablets
- iPad
- Archos
- e-Readers
- Amazon
- Sony
With a combination of our own research and industry standard tools and software we are able to obtain evidence from a high number of mobile devices. Particularly traditional mobile phones and Android based devices (tablets and Smart Phones).
Modern mobile phones store a considerable amount of evidence on the handset, however it is important to consider the SIM or uSIM when conducting an investigation as these can contain vital information.
Our expert analysis can include a visualisation of associates between contacts on mobile phones and correlate with connections on social networks.
Images and Video
A by product of the proliferation of cameras on mobile devices is high numbers of images and videos being stored. Our recovery technicians are able to recover these, even if they have been deleted or are of a non standard nature. They can even recover video footage from newly released mobile phones containing 3D cameras.
Web history
Mobile devices have come a long way since the introduction of SMS messages, which are still important to an investigation today. It is now possible for mobile device owners to communicate instantly through a variety of applications. For example MSN messenger, Blackberry Messenger, e-Buddy and many others. All these applications leave artifacts on the phones or tablets that can be analysed. Similarly, internet browsing history can be extracted and analysed.
GPS data
A very high proportion of mobile devices sold today contain a GPS receiver. These allow the owner to use geostationary satellite to help them navigate. GPS device can be used with proprietary software like TOM TOM or open software like Google Maps. In addition to the artifacts that both TOM TOM and Google Maps leave it is sometimes possible to find raw GPS data logs.
Computer Forensics
Desktops / Laptops
Our forensic investigators are trained to recover and analyse data obtained both from desktop computers and laptop computers. in terms of the software they can run, they can be considered to have the same capabilities. It is very likely that both will have access to the internet and it is likely that instant messeging services, social network sites and similar will be used. Virtually all activity on computers is recorded, and there can be extracted.
We use industry standard software and hardware in addition to our own ACPO compliant techniques to recover and analyse data stored on computer hard drives.
Games Consoles
Games consoles, particularly the XBOX also have access to the internet which makes them a rich source of browsing and instant messaging activity between associates.
